Born and raised in Northern Idaho, Velma moved
to Colorado in 1954. After receiving a Fine Arts Degree from Brigham
Young University and then raising a large family, Velma now finds
time to devote to painting and studying further with local and
nationally known artists.
"Appreciation for the beautiful world
we live in is the inspiration for my paintings, and I try to convey
that love to others."
Her love of the Rocky Mountain West is the
inspiration for her well known mountain or pastoral landscapes.
She and her husband enjoy outings in the mountains. She also adapts
her style of classic romantic realism in oils and pastels to other
subjects, such as wildlife and still life.
She has received many awards in competitions
and has been honored in numerous one-person shows. Her work resides
in private collections throughout the world.
