"I have always been enthralled
with art but have not had formal training since high school. Being
an experimenter and intuitive learner, I have benefited from books,
museums and the instruction of artist friends and relatives. During
travels to New Mexico, I met a woman who painted prayer shawls
and I bought one for my older daughter. While visiting relatives
in Wales, I discovered silk art and was intrigued by it. When
my younger daughter needed a prayer shawl for her bat mitzvah,
I took the plunge and created one for her. I have been addicted
ever since.
In 1990, I began a home-based business
using pressed flowers, then moved into painting, followed by decorative
and hand-made papers. Merging these media with silk, something
inspirational happened-my own multi-media art. Drawing from my
travel experiences and creating my landscapes takes me back to
some to my favorite places for a repeat visit."
